Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
