Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located many other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior official stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
